It’s been over a year since the Orlando’s Joint season 1 finale dropped. Three new episodes are heading your way starting December 1st — waaaay later than I ever intended (check out this old Tubefilter article).
Nine episodes for season 2 were written in the summer of ‘09, and the voices recorded that fall. There’s a bunch of reasons why it took me so long to release the upcoming first story arc of the new season:
Why So Late Reason #1
My computer kicked it and I had to re-record some voices after failing to save some audio files. Luckily I work with some of the coolest actors on the planet, and Rodney, Michelle and Kevin only cried a little bit when I dragged them back to redo their lines.
Why So Late Reason #2
Orlando’s Joint got some good looks since I started distributing via blip.tv, and I was very happy to get some meetings out of it. ‘Course, like the vast majority of entertainment dealings, things move verrrrrry slowly… until they stop altogether. I don’t know if the exciting things I was hoping would happen are at the “stop” point yet. Regardless, I’m gonna continue to keep moving my own damn self.
Why So Late Reason #3
My play Blood and Thunder ran for over five months in L.A., and that took up a lot of my creative focus for most of this year.
So, now it’s back to the crew at the Coffee Joint. The plan is to release episodes 1-3 of the new season each Wednesday starting December 1st. Episodes 4-6 will be out in early 2011 (I’m not gonna lock down dates until they’re done). Then 7-9 after that, etc. I’ve got ideas for at least two more episodes that I might add into the season, but let’s see how it goes.
I’m real happy to be back in the deep end with Orlando and his crew, and I love putting the show out with into the world via blip.tv (the BEST independent web series distributor on the world wide webs).
Hope you enjoy the new eps!
